    Hawks Moves 2019-2020

he would be someone that a case could be made for, but I don't believe it would hold up. despite his keeping the payroll down, despite his refusal to put games on tv, despite his reliance on some folks in management that did a piss poor job for years; the team that won the Cup in 2010 was still assembled while he was alive (for the most part). he also was around for a long playoff streak and a finals appearance. he certainly had a LARGE hand in the suckage that followed from the mid 90s through 2007, but I don't think you could lay 100% of the blame upon him.

any names I should be writing down for future draft reference?

I don't think anyone here would disagree with this. the successes and failures of the Chicago Blackhawks do not come down to one person. ever. you guys know you are arguing about what share of credit Stan deserves, right? all of you have said he deserves some, none of you said he deserves all or none of the credit. it might just me and my fried brain here on my 5th night in a row at work, but it kinda seems like this argument is a little silly.... just sayin. carry on.

yeah, I am.feeling like it might take a few combinations before they find the right partners this fall. on a different note, anyone know what system Boqvist played in in London last year? I reckon that might actually affect his making the team or not more than I had originally considered.

right on. someone is going to have to play their off side until DeHaan is ready to go, that much is certain. well, as long as that top pairing is set, that is.

might could. as was said above, maybe he just ends up at 3lc as well. just one of many things to watch for this fall. easily the most interesting camp in a decade coming up!

yeah, let's hope so! I don't think it'll change unless JC suddenly had a change of heart as far as what system he prefers and I doubt that happens any time soon, if at all.

that is the system he wants to run, the players have talked about this coming season being easier because they are already familiar with the system, and, honestly, cuz I haven't heard anything different. 😛

aye, the man to man scheme remains intact. pairings-wise game 1? I'll go with: Keith/Gus Maatta/Murphy Boqvist/Seabs I know Boqvist would be on the wrong side to begin, but I think he gets some run before DeHaan is ready to lace em up. should he be ready to go game one, I would replace Boqvist with him.

plenty of other threads to discuss the GM here, gents. let's try and keep this about The Captain.

fair enough. I agree on his linemates should he make the team and slot into the 3lc spot. definitely want to see him with a pair of vets on his flanks in that situation. honestly, if that ended up being the spot he settled in, it would probably be best for the team, provided a couple others stepped up and manned the wings on the top 2 lines.

I'm gonna have to disagree with ya here. I don't think him spending even a full rookie season at wing would hinder his progress as a center at all. we literally just did the same with Schmaltz and before his second season was up he was centering Kane. allowing him to play top 6 minutes and getting used to the speed of the game and such for a partial or even entire season shouldn't hurt his progress. Dach was a top 3 pick. he needs top 6 minutes. having him as the 3lc could also be an option, and if he comes in and they are set on him playing center only, then I'm for it. I just think it might be a little easier on him to come in and ride shotgun with 19 and 88 for a while before saddling him with the much more difficult task of being the 3lc.

I think he may have a slightly lesser year minus 88 on his right side, certainly. but, if he has the right guys around him he could still have a 60-70 point season. I don't think his line will be relied upon as THE shut down line per say, but his line is always going to be out there vs the oppositions top line. been that way forever now it seems like, even last season when he had his best year. I was just thinking with the way Dach plays defensively (at least in highlights and prospects camp) those two might make a pretty good pair out there with another 2 way type of player as opposed to Kaner.

    Toews

agree on all counts. I can assure you that my appreciation and my quickness to defend him are right there with ya!

just to be clear, I am not advocating sending down solely based on him not being ready to play center. I am a-ok with him playing wing all season if that is what works best. tbh, he and Toews might be a real good tandem on a line. as a matter of fact, should he come in and make the big team as a winger, moving 88 to the 12/17 line might actually be a good idea, let someone else play right wing with 77/19 and then send that line out against the opposing teams top line....
